Unwanted pregnancy
Have you just discovered you have an unwanted pregnancy and aren’t sure what to do? Everything you feel can be there. On this page you can read what possibilities there are, what your first steps can be how Mildred Clinics can support you in this.
Take your time
Whatever you choose, it’s okay. Whether you are very unsure, or have already made your choice quickly. The important thing is that you take the time you need to make the choice that suits your situation.
At Mildred Clinics, we listen to you without judgment. We can also offer you support and accurate information. It’s your body, your decision.
What choices do you have?
In addition to terminating the pregnancy, there are other options available. Such as parenting yourself, adoption or foster care. Are you unsure which choice to make? Or do you really not know what to do? There are many choice help organizations that can support you with this, please visit www.infopuntonbedoeldzwanger.nl.
Abortion as a possible choice
Do you choose to terminate your pregnancy? Then we at Mildred Clinics offer professional and safe abortion care. Abortion treatment at Mildred Clinics is possible from 5 to 18 weeks of pregnancy. Which treatment is possible depends in part on how long you have been pregnant. Take the decision aid test to find out which treatment is right for you.
Several treatments are available:
- the abortion pill: from 5 to 9 weeks of pregnancy
- a suction treatment: from 5 to 13 weeks of pregnancy
- a instrumental treatment from 13 to 18 weeks of pregnancy
Intake interview
When you come to us for an appointment, you will first have an intake interview. An ultrasound will be taken to determine if and how long you are pregnant. This way we know what treatment options are available to you. You can choose whether you want to be present during the ultrasound.
You then discuss with the doctor, and often a nurse, your situation and your treatment options. In this way we will see if the treatment you want fits your medication and medical history. We can also advise you on contraception.
You may of course bring your (former) partner or a companion, but there is always a moment in this conversation when we speak to you alone.
Doubt
The intake interview does not always mean that you already know exactly what you want with the pregnancy. Doubt is quite normal. And there is plenty of room for that. There is no right or wrong choice. Only the decision that seems best to you at the moment.
On our page Frequently Asked Questions you will find answers to many questions you may have before, during and after abortion treatment. Of course, you can always contact us to discuss your question in person.

At Mildred Clinics we can treat women up to 18 weeks of pregnancy. In the Netherlands a termination of pregnancy is possible up to 22 weeks at Bloemenhove Kliniek in Amsterdam/Heemstede and the Vrelinghuis in Utrecht.
Your privacy is very important to us. A treatment in our clinic is completely anonymous. Without your consent we do not give any information about you to others. Not to your partner, parents or family. Nor to your general practitioner.
You do not receive any mail at home and we do not inform your health insurer. We use your personal data only for our own administration and to call you if there is a change in the schedule. We use a secure client portal. This contains, for example, preparation documents and aftercare instructions. For this we ask for your email address.
At the end of your treatment you receive a letter for your general practitioner in the client portal. You can forward this to your GP yourself.
After a suction treatment or instrumental treatment you receive a short course of antibiotics from us. We give you these tablets to take with you.
If you are younger than 16 years old, the law requires you to have permission from your parent(s) or guardian for a medical treatment. Do you not dare to tell them that you are pregnant? Or can you not get permission? You can still make an appointment at our clinic. If our doctor finds that you are well able to assess the consequences of your choices, permission from your parents or guardian is not needed.
Yes, you may bring 1 companion. That person may be present at the ultrasound and the intake interview if you wish. To be sure that you are making your choice in complete freedom, the doctor or nurse always wants to speak with you alone for a moment as well. The companion may not come with you into the treatment room and the recovery room.
Children are not allowed in the clinic.
